Lisa + John’s Classic Garden Chic Wedding
“We fell in love with the beauty of the garden and the intimacy the entire venue created.” – Lisa
A Rustic Garden Chic Wedding
Featuring Champagne, Blush, A Hint of Lavender And Greenery
Lisa admits that upon getting engaged she didn’t quite know what she wanted for their wedding day. “I wasn’t ‘that girl’ that had everything already envisioned in her head of what her perfect day would look like, so it was hard for me to get excited about ALL the details. That changed when we toured CJ’s!”
Lisa and her fiancé John fell in love with the intimate venue and romantic gardens at CJ’s Off The Square. Together, with planner Allison Adams, they planned a rustic, late summer wedding with soft blush details, hints of lavender and lots of greenery.
The Franklin, TN couple met on a dating app and fell in love over their shared active lifestyle and love of the outdoors.
The Bridal Party
Both Lisa and John come from big families and including everyone special in their life was key when planning their big day. Lisa’s bridesmaids each chose their own unique dress style in the same stunning mauve color. T Villager Designs crafted classic bouquets for each of the bridesmaids featuring lush summery greenery and romantic roses in white, lavender and blush.
“Working with Allison as our wedding coordinator was a breeze. She answered all our questions along with her honest opinions when we were stuck on choices and needed guidance. And we needed a lot of it!”
The groom and his men wore bold blue suits with coordinating mauve ties. Lisa and John couldn’t leave out two of the most important members of their family: their dogs! Each pup wore coordinating outfits with the bridal party — Murphey wore a bowtie and blue suit, while Miley dawned a floral collar. Quite dapper pups indeed!
Lisa wowed her groom and guests in a column-style gown from David’s Bridal that features a V-neckline and all-over vine-like appliques. It was truly perfect for her garden-chic wedding day. She accessorized her look with simple jewelry and a coordinating flower in her hair.
The Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
The couple exchanged vows in front of about 100 guests on a September afternoon. They stood at the floral and rose adorned gazebo, which featured an elegant chandelier. Wooden folding chairs welcomed guests to the garden and string lights were hung from the trees to create an intimate feel.
“Although I follow all of CJ’s social media and have seen other weddings, I was completely blown out of the water with how gorgeous everything was for our special day in September. Pictures do not do it justice.”
A close friend officiated their wedding ceremony and included plenty of sentimental details. Since both of their last names are also names of whiskeys, the couple tasted Riddle whiskey and Jameson whiskey to symbolize the blending of both families. As a nod to how they met (on the dating app Bumble), the couple’s recessional song during the ceremony was “Honeybee” by Head and the Heart.
The Garden Wedding Reception
After the “I do’s”, it was time to party. Lisa and John’s guests enjoyed an open-air reception under our pavilion, complete with custom table settings, an eye-catching champagne wall and fun photo booth. The couple selected a combination of round tables and long wooden farm tables. Each table featured a romantic centerpiece of roses, candles, welcoming greenery, and childhood photos of the bride and groom. The entire reception was accented by a custom Edison bulb chandelier known as “The CJ” chandelier from Nashville Event Lighting.
Instead of a guest book, guests signed the couple’s wedding tree — a beautiful piece of art from White Ink Calligraphy — to commemorate the day.
“We both come from big families and all of them said this was by far their favorite venue they’ve ever been to — the layout, details, and staff made for such an enjoyable and memorable evening and we are so thrilled with how much our expectations were exceeded,” said Lisa.
Their delicious and custom-designed cake was made by Baked In Nashville. It featured the couple’s favorite flavors: Chocolate with crushed Oreo and vanilla buttercream and the other half was chocolate cake filled with peanut butter buttercream and chopped Reeses.
When the sun went down, the party really got started. The DJ got everyone up and out of their seats for a night of dancing under the pavilion. But before the night was over, the bride and groom shared a romantic and private last dance under the stars in the garden. Love this!
