What qualities should a couple look for in a wedding photographer? First and foremost they must love the STYLE of  work from their photographer. Next,  would be their personalities need to click. As much as you may get along with a photographer, if their style is not your style, then you should probably move on. Thirdly is budget. You need to make sure you’re not breaking yourself, but you don’t want to skimp on photography either. There are tons of photographers out there that call themselves “professional” and charge $500.00 for all day shooting with all kinds of stuff, but when it comes to quality of work… well… you get what you pay for. 🙂 That’s not to say there aren’t amateurs out there charging $3000.00 + and really still don’t know what they’re doing. You really need to see a lot of work to make up your mind. Look at full weddings. Pick a photographer that can shoot in any lighting, any situation and still produce amazing work!

How can couples ensure their personalities will come through in the photography of such a special day? We are very good at getting people to feel comfortable around us, which in turn makes their personalities shine through so we can capture them naturally. 🙂

Do you have any advice for brides and grooms who are uncomfortable in front of the camera? Just relax, breathe, and we will try our hardest to help you loosen up. If you need a little extra posing, we’ve got you covered. Most brides and grooms are not models and we realize this! We would never make you do anything that wasn’t “you”, but we do make sure the real “you” shines through in your photographs.

How can couples save money with photography? You can save money by really thinking hard about how much time you actually need a photographer for. It is totally fine if you want shots from the moment you start getting ready till the moment you leave the reception, but if you can cut that down to maybe a half hour or so of getting ready, and just a couple or few hours at the reception, that actually helps out a lot. With all your guests that bring cameras these days, you’re bound to have more photos than you can ask for! If you’re not doing a grande exit out of the reception, then once we’ve done all the main stuff (cake, first dance, bouquet, etc), 30 mins or so of the guests dancing is pretty good. After that, mainly you’re getting a lot of drunk shots! ha!

What is worth the splurge? Albums are worth the splurge. We deliver you all these amazing photos, but what makes US happy is designing your album for a final product! We love to put the photos in the book to tell the story, and our albums are absolutely beautiful. This is also something you can pass on to your children’s children and we think that’s really important.
